Department of Veteran Affairs’ VAProfile Recognized as a 2019 FedHealthIT Innovation Award Winner
Halfaker and Associates LLC, a technology solutions provider that supports the Federal Government’s health, intelligence, defense, and security sectors is proud to announce that the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veteran Experience Office (VEO) VAProfile Program received the 2019 FedHealthIT Innovation Awards. This award program honors and recognizes the top federal health programs that drive innovation and deliver real results in support of their departments’ missions.
The VAProfile Program, supported by Halfaker, is transforming the way the VA shares Veteran-related data, across the VA’s enterprise systems. VAProfile gives Veterans control, visibility, and ownership of their information and provides VA employees the up-to-date information they need to personalize interactions with Veterans and provide excellent customer service.
A highly innovative, first-of-its-kind program, VAProfile utilizes a powerful DevOps platform (Docker containerization) to ensure application scalability, portability, extensibility, resilience, and speed, enabling the VAProfile application to be moved to any cloud server or service at any time. Based on this advanced technology approach, in just over one month, VAProfile processed more than 2.6 million transactions, mastered 1.4 million addresses, and for the first time, enabled VA databases across all VA lines of business to share common Veteran contact data.
“Veterans should not have to update their contact information in ten different systems when they have a change of address or spend hours on the phone with a call center representative to update a phone number,” said Halfaker President and CEO, Dawn Halfaker. “As the VA modernizes its enterprise system capabilities to improve the Veteran experience, a 360-degree view of the Veteran and their associated information is critical, and that’s what VAProfile is enabling.”
Halfaker and Associates celebrated the VA’s accomplishments at the 2019 FedHealthIT Innovation Awards ceremony, which was held on Tuesday, June 11th from 2:00-5:00 pm at the Washington Press Club, 529 14th Street, NW, 13th Floor, Washington, DC. In addition to the VAProfile program award, the VA was also honored with FedHealthIT Innovation award for its Veteran Signals (VSignals) program.
