Department of Veterans Affairs’ CSOC-NG Transformation Program Recognized with FedHealthIT Disruptive Tech Award
ARLINGTON, VA, September 15, 2020 – Halfaker and Associates, LLC (Halfaker), a technology solutions provider within the Federal Government’s health, intelligence, defense, and security sectors is proud to share that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Intelligence-driven Cybersecurity Operations Center – Next Generation (CSOC-NG) Transformation Program has been selected to receive a 2020 FedHealthIT Disruptive Tech Award. Honoring IT leaders who are transforming Federal information technology, this award acknowledges key programs that have successfully used positive disruption to improve mission delivery.
To protect VA’s growing volume of data from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats, CSOC uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technology to predict and prevent cyber incidents before they occur. With over 1.5 million devices across a dynamic VA network, scaling threat detection and proactive remediation capabilities is critical to protecting the systems and data that enable effective healthcare and benefits delivery to Veterans. Using intelligence-driven threat detection and playbook automation techniques, CSOC’s disruptive approach to network protection has resulted in a decrease in cyber security incidents and lower incident response costs.
