Halfaker Sponsors An Evening for Hope to Benefit The Children’s Inn at NIH
Arlington, VA., May 04, 2017 – On April 29, 2017, hundreds gathered at the Ritz Carlton in Tysons Corner, VA, for An Evening of Hope. Halfaker and Associates was a proud sponsor of the fundraising event which benefitted The Children’s Inn at NIH.
The Children’s Inn opened its doors in 1990 to provide a home-like environment free of charge for families to stay while their children undergo treatment at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Families travel to the NIH from all over the world because conventional treatments have failed to have sufficient impact on their children’s serious illnesses and in many instances, coming to the NIH is a last, best hope for successful treatment or a cure. All of the programs and activities at The Children’s Inn are designed to assist families as they manage the stress of having a child with a serious illness. Since The Children’s Inn opened, nearly 13,000 seriously ill children and their families have made 60,000 visits to this “place like home.”
An Evening for Hope is the largest fundraising event in support of The Children’s Inn and it featured heart felt stories from families impacted by The Children’s Inn as well as an exciting live auction. Through the generous support of event attendees and sponsors, An Evening for Hope raised $927,000 to help serve children and their families for years to come.
“The Children’s Inn provides a valuable healing home environment for sick children and their families,” said Halfaker’s CEO, Dawn Halfaker. “Our team has had the opportunity to cook and serve dinner for families staying at The Inn and were able to witness first-hand the positive impact that the facility has on its residents. It was evident just how important it is to the families to have a place to come together to unwind and feel a sense of normalcy after a long day of treatments.”
