Halfaker Sponsors Local Travis Manion Foundation’s 9/11 Heroes Run

Halfaker and Associates, LLC (Halfaker) is a proud sponsor of the 2018 9/11 Heroes Run benefitting the Travis Manion Foundation (TMF). On September 16, 2018, over 1,000 people are anticipated to gather at Carl Sandburg Middle School in Alexandria, VA, to remember and honor the sacrifices of the heroes of September 11th and thank local Veterans for their service.

TMF was founded in 2007 after 1st Lt. Travis Manion was killed by an enemy sniper while saving his wounded teammates in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. TMF embodies the legacy of character, service, and leadership Travis left behind and all of those who have served and are currently serving our country. Travis’s last words before leaving for deployment were, “If not me, then who…” These words are a constant reminder to live with character and put others’ needs before our own.

TMF holds several different community engagement events and empowerment programs to support youth and returning Veterans. Each year, the 9/11 Heroes Run honors the sacrifices made by the heroes of 9/11 and others who have humbly served our Nation. This race unites communities internationally, offering 50 racing events held across 38 states, with an average of 50,000 participants. Racing events are 100% organized by local community volunteers and include a 5k and 1-mile fun run/walk for all levels and ages. All proceeds support TMF’s mission to empower Veterans and families of the fallen to develop character for future generations.

“It is crucial to remember those we have lost and to support those that are currently fighting for our freedoms,” said Halfaker President and CEO, Dawn Halfaker, “The Travis Manion Foundation does excellent work in empowering local Veterans and supporting active duty and their families. We are incredibly excited to be sponsoring and participating in this year’s run.”
