We are seeking a creative and talented Web Application UI/UX Designer to join our team building a social networking tool to support the small business government contracting community.  This tool will better organize and target business opportunities and help reduce the chaos many stakeholders experience when they attend conferences or networking events looking to connect with teaming partners or clients within the government contracting industry.

The tool will allow for dynamic and interactive networking for several end user groups including:

  • Government procurement representatives looking for small businesses to fulfill contracting opportunities
  • Small businesses interested in finding potential clients and teaming partners
  • Large businesses searching for small business partners to build strategic relationships

We built a pilot of this tool in 2011 on a stack of Ruby on Rails, Heroku, and github, and are planning to add some significant enhancements in 2012.

We are looking for a UI/UX designer who can take a web application with complex user interactions and a diverse end user group and make an attractive, cutting-edge, intuitive tool that people love using.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather business, interface and data structure requirements for interactive web applications
  • Collaborate and work with the nationally distributed development team to control product look-and-feel across and to ensure the best user experience
  • Design consistent, elegant user interfaces for this tool
  • Incorporate customer feedback and apply them intelligently into iterative design solution
  • Participate in usability testing
Requirements: 
  • Must have a keen eye for interface design and 5+ years’ experience designing and building intuitive and functional websites
  • Ability to translate user research and feedback into design decisions
  • Experience with heuristic analysis and usability testing processes
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Expert in design tools such as Photoshop
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript and jQuery is a plus
