On June 19, 2004, Halfaker and Associates Founder and CEO, Dawn Halfaker’s life changed when her platoon was ambushed on a patrol mission in Baqubah, Iraq and her career as a military police officer in the United States Army ended abruptly. After a year of recovery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, Dawn was medically retired from active duty due to wounds received in combat, earning a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Nearly a year after Dawn’s recovery, she founded Halfaker and Associates, LLC (Halfaker) in January 2006 with the aspiration to continue her service to the country by offering the industry a new perspective of experience, a new standard of service, and a renewed commitment to excellence. With experience and a passion for improving the nation’s security architecture, Dawn worked hard to position the company to engage prospective clients and develop leading-edge solutions to complex problems and threats.  Given her passion and dedication, the company realized steady growth by building a multidisciplinary team of experts, leveraging industry best practices and integrating innovative technologies to accelerate growth.
