Halfaker has an immediate opportunity for an AIX -Systems Administrator to join our talented, dynamic team. The AIX Systems Administrator will support the Operations Team by providing capability and work in support of the Army Publishing Directorate (APD) under the Enterprise Content Management Services (ECMS) program. Specifically, the AIX Systems Administrator will perform routine systems maintenance, installations, and enhancements; will analyze the systems and architecture for issues and provide recommendations for improvements; and will provide expertise and documentation as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide IT Operations maintenance and support
  • Support software installation/upgrades, configuration and management of servers and virtual environments
  • Maintain configuration management and change control across application platforms
  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures; adhere to best practices and DOD standards
Requirements: 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Active Secret Clearance required
  • 5-10 years of direct System engineering/IT Operations support work.
  • 5-10 years of OS hands-on and technical experience in AIX, Linux (RHEL) and Windows
  • 1 year AIX administration experience
  • Awareness of Power HA
  • Understanding of HMC
  • Experience with security auditing and scanning AIX
  • Experience with the setup/maintenance of a large-scale infrastructure including Networking
  • Understanding of Power Path
  • Understanding of native multi-path

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with, Redhat, EMC SAN storage systems, Perl programming, KSH scripting, FileNet, Content Manager, Tivoli WebSphere and other IBM software/products.

The ideal candidate will possess familiarity with varied Windows desktop/ workstation concepts, standard best troubleshooting practices, and procedures. He/she should rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, perform a variety of tasks with limited guidance and supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

Analyzes and resolves problems associated with the operating system's servers, hardware, applications, and software. Detects, diagnoses, and reports UNIX related problems on servers.  Possesses familiarity with varied technical concepts, standard best business practices, and procedures. Key Responsibilities:

  • Function as a Senior UNIX System administrator responsible for the security and management of Solaris servers in development, test and production environments. 
  • Plan, develop, test, and deploy application software, system software and security updates. Solve complex integration and technical problems in a dynamic fast-paced environment. 
  • Work with other Systems administrators, DBAs, and application developers to resolve issues.
  • Provide advanced administration tasks on Solaris 10 and 11 servers including, but not limited to:
  • Solaris Service management
  • User maintenance
  • Solaris Virtualization using Solaris Zones
  • Storage management using ZFS and UFS
  • Solaris patching (Firmware and Operating System),
  • Server builds
  • Hardware support on Sun Hardware

Basic Qualifications:
