Get Running and Support the Wounded Warrior Project: Register now for the Sixth Annual Run Around the Lake
Fairfax Station, VA—Let’s run together in support to our nation’s heroes—register now and join Halfaker and Associates and J.M. Waller Associates, Inc. at the starting line of the Sixth Annual Run Around the Lake for Wounded Warriors. Last year, over 400 supporters collectively contributed $28,250 to the WWP; with your help, we hope to surpass last year’s donation to mark our continued appreciation and support of our nation’s injured service men and women. CEO of Halfaker and Associates, Dawn Halfaker, is extremely proud of the support this run provides for WWP, “The community really stands behind this annual event. I am so thankful for the outpouring of support we receive each year. Our nation’s heroes continue to need our support and our community continues to generously respond.”
The 4.7 mile race is scheduled to begin at 8:00 am on Sunday, October 7th at Burke Lake Park in Fairfax Station, Virginia and is a formal timed event open for competitive runners as well as those looking to have a great time supporting the WWP.
To maximize support to our nation’s heroes, the service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses supporting the event are covering all costs associated with the Run Around the Lake, ensuring that 100% of the registration fees and donations go to WWP’s mission to honor and empower injured service men and women.
WWP is a non-profit organization with the unique goal of ensuring today’s newest veterans are the most successful, well-adjusted generation of veterans in our nation’s history. WWP was founded on the principle of warriors helping warriors, and offers various outstanding service programs that are uniquely structured to nurture Wounded Warriors’ minds and bodies and encourage economic empowerment and engagement. WWP’s signature service programs include peer mentoring, adaptive sporting events, and Project Odyssey—a potentially life-changing program that engages groups of veterans with combat stress and post-traumatic stress disorder in outdoor adventure activities that foster coping skills and provide support in the recovery process.
This year’s family friendly event is set to be a fantastic opportunity for competitive runners, joggers, walkers and those simply wanting to donate in support of our Nation’s Wounded Warriors. After the race, be sure to stay for the on-site check presentation and family activities that will follow the run. We hope to see you at the starting line on October 7th.
