Watch Specialist, Navy Bureau of Medicine (Jacksonville, FL)

Halfaker and Associates, LLC (Halfaker) seeks motivated Watch Specialists to support the Navy’s Bureau of Medicine (BUMED) Navy Medicine Regional Command Centers (MRCC).

Responsibilities

Watch standers will be responsible for monitoring message traffic; preparing daily and weekly reports; and maintain communications with medical center management, the central Navy medical operations center, local authorities, and other Navy and military entities.  The goal of this new program is to establish a network of regional medical operations centers to help coordinate medical assets in the event of emergencies; and to give Navy medical command a continuous operational picture of their assets across different geographic areas. Tasks include:

  • Monitors regional medical events that may impact Navy medical command
  • Collects, produces and disseminates information for reports and briefings
  • Support full scale contingency watch operation in the event of a large scale medical emergency or other event that requires the coordination of medical resources
  • Promptly execute preplanned responses for “all threat/all hazards” incidents via checklist execution.
  • Daily maintenance of the BUMED event log
  • Security maintenance of classified information
  • Provide daily status updates, briefs and reports per the BUMED standard operating procedure
  • Review and respond to Defense Message System (DMS) traffic as appropriate
  • Submit draft operational reports (OPREPs)
    • Update, as needed, all regional instructions and incident checklists that relate to the duties and responsibilities of the BUMED Watch Team.

    Qualifications

    • Associates degree or minimum of four years military service
    • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision
    • Prior work in an ops center a plus
    • Work as an operations officer/NCO is a plus
    • Strong written and oral communications skills; ability to brief military and civilian leadership on current operations and plans
    • Familiar with word, excel, power point, outlook
    • Commitment to the readiness and success of the Navy’s medical program
    • Active secret clearance

    Clearance: Active Secret Clearance is required
